Samsung could launch the Galaxy S22’s One UI 5.0 beta program before the end of July

When it comes to software and security updates in the Android world, Samsung has been killing it. The Korean phone maker has consistently been the first OEM to roll out security patches to its handsets, often sooner than Google manages to do for its comparatively tiny inventory. Next on the horizon for Samsung is the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 which will reportedly launch in beta format for the Galaxy S22 series as soon as the third week in July.

Crazy stuff, right? Samsung usually runs its beta program around November-December but, if SamMobile’s source is right, the brand is upping the ante on its Android competitors. The first Android 13/One UI 5.0 beta build will apparently roll out to the Galaxy S22 series before other devices such as older Galaxy S series as well as the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold units are added.

The report also says that the stable One UI 5.0 release will drop around October, although could be moved up or back depending on the progress of the beta program.

It’s only a few years ago since Samsung was considered to be among the worst OEMs when it came to supporting its devices, so this turn-a-round is nothing short of remarkable. It goes to show what can be achieved when a smartphone brand makes software a priority instead of an after-thought.

If you have a Galaxy S22, do you plan on signing up to the Android 13/One UI 5.0 beta program when it goes live in your region?
