Samsung Is Still Deciding On Galaxy AI’s Future After 2025

However, the looming question is what will happen to Galaxy AI after the complimentary period expires in 2025. Roh admitted that as of now, Samsung hasn’t made any definitive decisions regarding the fiscal future of Galaxy AI beyond 2025. This uncertainty raises speculation about potential changes to the accessibility of these AI features for users.

The interview with ET Telecom generally hinted at the possibility of introducing more robust AI features for customers who are willing to pay for an upgraded experience. Roh explained:

“According to our analysis, there are various needs for mobile AI. So, there will be consumers who will be satisfied with using the AI capabilities for free. Then there could also be customers who wish for even more powerful AI capabilities and even pay for them. So, in the future decision-making, we will take all these factors into consideration.”

Despite the ambiguity surrounding the post-2025 strategy, Roh at the very least painted an optimistic picture for Galaxy AI’s immediate future. Samsung aims to roll out the technology to over 100 million devices globally this year.

In fact, the company has confirmed that older Galaxy flagships, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series, will receive Galaxy AI features within the first half of 2024. This extensive integration across various devices underscores Samsung’s commitment to establishing Galaxy AI as a widespread and integral part of its ecosystem.

It’s worth noting that the Galaxy S24 series launch marked a departure from the usual strategy, as Samsung has bet significantly on Galaxy AI branding. However, the decision to make Galaxy AI features free until 2025 still casts considerable doubt on the sustainability of this model regardless of the level of use.

The potential introduction of paid subscriptions (for more advanced AI capabilities) may not only present a strategic shift in Samsung’s approach, but also a change in how supporting models will be received over time.

So, Really Nothing After 2025?

As of now, Samsung has over a year to decide the fate of Galaxy AI post-2025. The company’s silence on the matter, despite inquiries from various sources, keeps users and industry observers eagerly awaiting updates. In the ever-changing, ever-evolving landscape of mobile technology, decisions surrounding AI features can significantly impact user experience and the competitive edge of a brand.

Only time will reveal Samsung’s strategy beyond 2025 and how it will shape the future of Galaxy AI.
