Samsung unveils new memory cards, providing big storage in small form factors

Creatives in need of more storage space are in luck: Samsung has unveiled its new PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD memory cards, which have storage spaces custom-built for the demands of videographers and photographers racking up gigs of content by the minute by way of capturing 4K video or high-quality photos.

“With a 10-year limited warranty, added durability and up to a half-terabyte of storage capacity, Samsung’s new memory cards provide ample storage for 360-degree photos, hours of 4K UHD helmet camera and aerial drone video capture, and more,” Samsung says, illustrating who its latest cards are targeted at. The new Pro Plus microSD and SD cards offer read speeds of up to 160 MB/s (megabytes per second), with up to 120 MB/s write speeds. These speeds are 1.3 times speedier than the previous generation of cards, according to Samsung.

The new microSD cards are built to endure everything from water and extreme temperatures to magnetic impact and x-rays. These cards, the PRO Plus microSD line, are available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities (costing $34, $54, and $109, respectively). The EVO Plus line comes in 64GB to 512GB capacities, with prices ranging from $18 to $99. The cards are live on Samsung’s product page and appear to be available for purchase, though actual buy links are not present at the moment, with a “notify me” option about stock being the only available choice right now.
