Optical-Image-Stabilization (OIS) has long been a feature that has been the preserve of flagship smartphones with mid-range and entry-level handsets getting EIS (Electronic-Image-Stabilization) if they were lucky. With Samsung’s Galaxy A series facing increased competition from the likes of Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola, and OnePlus, the Korean electronics giant plans to upgrade the the low-to-mid-range camera experience in a meaningful way with the addition of OIS in 2022.

According to a report by TheElec news outlet, Samsung looks set to continue the trend it began when it launched the MediaTek-powered Galaxy A22 earlier this year by including the OIS feature in with its 48MP sensor. With the Galaxy S21 series seemingly not delivering the sales that Samsung expected, there’s a lot of pressure on the A series to make up the shortfall.

The addition of OIS to the lower-end of the Galaxy A spectrum should help increase the quality of both still photography and video capture and it’s hoped that it doesn’t cause any significant price increases to the range. Would 0
