Samsung’s Galaxy A33 5G is official with an AMOLED display, an IP67 rating, and goes on sale from April 22nd

The second model that Samsung announced earlier today is the Galaxy A33 5G that spruces up the mid-section of the Galaxy A series with the addition of an IP rating for the first time as well as being powered by the Exynos 1280 processor. Samsung says that the Galaxy A33 5G will go on sale in selected markets from April 22nd.

Featuring a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, the A33 5G also boasts an in-display fingerprint sensor. Under the hood is the aforementioned Exynos 1280 processor which is bolstered by 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of expandable storage. As with the Galaxy A53 5G, the A33 5G sports a big 5,000mAh battery although it makes do with 15W charging. Users will once again need to source a compatible charger independently though.

There are four rear cameras consisting of a 48MP main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a pair of 2MP sensors for depth and macro purposes. A 13MP selfie camera is housed in the teardrop notch on the display. The Galaxy A33 5G will be the cheapest Samsung smartphone to feature an IP rating, which is something of itself. The new phone will also run Android 12 with One UI 4.1 out of the box, with the same 4 years of OS upgrades and five years of security patches promised for the Galaxy A53 5G. Make no mistake, this is big news for people on a restricted budget and means that the phone will be capable of offering an up-to-date experience for up to five years in total.

Pricing for the Galaxy A33 5G has not been announced just yet, but Samsung will probably provide more details on that and availability before it goes on general sale in selected markets on April 22nd.
