Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 May Only Come In Plus And Ultra

Galaxy Tab S10 series may come in two models outside budget range

Samsung’s new tablets will undoubtedly come with large displays. The Plus and Ultra devices will sport 12.4 inches and 14.9 inches display size respectively. Rumors say there will be no base model carrying the plain Tab S10 name. Instead, starting the lineup is the S10 Plus, which will use the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor. The Ultra tablet will likely use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, although these specs are unconfirmed.

It’s odd that the brand is keeping the smaller model aside, considering that they have released each Galaxy Tab series with three models since 2022. The Galaxy Tab S7, Tab 8, and Tab S9 series were among those that featured different sizes. Perhaps, Samsung hopes to up the game for performance and features, and draw in users who want a premium experience right from the get-go.

Plus, there’s the unspoken reason that involves crushing Apple. Apple has been the leading vendor of media tablets globally from 2011 to 2024. As of the first quarter of this year, the Apple iPad held a 32% share of the global tablet market, down from 40.6 percent in the previous quarter. Samsung holds 22% in the first quarter of 2024.

Samsung may see market share increase with Tab S10 series

The new decision to make only two premium tablet options for the S10 series may help to boost those numbers. Samsung should see an increase in revenue and profit margins per unit sold as they’ll come with higher prices targeted at customers who’ll pay more for advanced features, better performance, and exquisite design. However, that means ridiculous pricing and inaccessibility for budget shoppers.

The Galaxy Tab S9 Plus alone is priced at $1,000 and offers 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. The Tab S9 Ultra cost $200 more. With the S10 tablets, we’re probably looking at a range between $1000 to $1500. The latest series should enter the market later this year, so don’t expect to see them at the July 10 Unpacked event.

Before it arrives, we hope for keyboard versatility. The issue with most keyboard accessories for Samsung’s tablets is that they often double as protective cases. That means you have a limited viewing angle and may have to remove the case when switching between handheld and typing modes.

We’ll hear more about the Tab S10 series in the coming weeks as production is set to start this month.
