Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Series Goes All In On MediaTek

Having used Qualcomm processors for its premium Tab S series of tablets for many years, Samsung has switched to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ flagship SoC for the Tab S10 series. This year, we also see the move to a two-device series, with the regular 11-inch model not appearing. Prices are about the same as last year’s Tab S9 series, and the overall design is similar.

The decision to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ chipset is a huge change, although it has almost certainly helped keep the pricing as is. It’s no secret that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is rather pricey. As for performance, the Dimensity chip brings an 18% increase in CPU, a 28% increase in GPU, and a 14% increase in NPU on the previous range.

With the Ultra, both models are available in 12/256GB and 12/512GB configurations. The Tab S10 Ultra is also available in a 16GB/1TB version. The series supports microSD cards up to 1.5TB.

The series consists of the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Tab S10 Ultra, which follow a similar theme in size to previous models. The Tab 10 Plus packs a 12.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2800 x 1752 resolution, while the Ultra sports a 14.6-inch AMOLED panel with a 2960 x 1848 resolution. Both feature a 120Hz refresh rate and anti-reflection.

The backs of each model have the same 13MP main and 8MP ultra-wide cameras, with the Ultra having dual 12MP front-facing cameras (wide and ultra-wide) and the Plus making do with just a 12MP ultra-wide.

Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 support are included, and you can pick up a 5G version (sub-6) with physical and eSIM functions. This being Samsung’s premium tablet series, IP68 ingress protection is included, as are quad speakers and, of course, the S Pen.

The Tab S10 Ultra and Plus have big 11,200mAh and 10,090mAh batteries, respectively, and they support 45W charging.

In terms of software, the Tab S10 series launches running Android 14 and One UI, with a number of AI-powered features in tow:

  • With Note Assist and the intuitive S Pen, note-taking is a breeze on the tablet’s large display. Schoolwork, note-taking, and personal journaling become more efficient with automated transcriptions and summaries provided by AI.
  • Math Helper lets you solve handwritten math problems, which could be useful for students.
  • With PDF Overlay Translation, the Galaxy Tab S10 series can also seamlessly translate PDFs via an on-screen overlay. Handwriting Help cleans up untidy handwritten notes, too.
  • Galaxy AI’s Sketch to Image makes the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra perfect for turning imagination into reality, acting as the ideal creative assistant for overcoming mental roadblocks.
  • The Galaxy S Pen’s Air Command with AI provides instant access to Galaxy AI Assistant features without toggling between menus. AI Assistant apps can also be easily launched by the Galaxy AI Key on the Book Cover Keyboard with written prompts, making it easier for users to choose between Samsung’s Bixby and Google’s Gemini for a customized AI experience.
  • With Circle to Search with Google on the Galaxy Tab S10 series, you can Circle to search anything without switching apps. Instantly translate anything you see on your tablet with Google. Without switching apps, you can translate any image, video, or text in two taps.

This being Samsung, you’d be right to think that, unlike Google with its Pixel Tablet, there is a range of accessories on offer. A book cover keyboard, slim book cover keyboard, smart book cover, outdoor cover, notepaper screen (add-on), and privacy screen (add-on) are available for both models. And, as seen in previous years, Samsung doesn’t include a 45W charger in the box because of the environment.

The Galaxy Tab S10 Plus is already available for pre-order, starting from $999/£999 for the 12/256GB Wi-Fi variant to $1299/£1199 for the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.
