The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) Is An Admirable Mid-Range Tablet
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) is the Samsung tablet for you if you’re looking for a sensibly-priced Android tablet that brings enough value for that price. It’s official today, so let’s talk about it.
The Design
The Tab S6 Lite (2024) has an uncomplicated design. You get a rectangular body with gently curved corners and moderately-sized bezels (for a tablet; you need somewhere to hold). There’s a cutout for the selfie camera in the top bezel and no branding anywhere on the front.
The back panel and the frames are made of metal, and there’s a single camera module in the upper left corner of the back panel, without a flash. The tablet is just 7mm thick and weighs just about 465g. You’ll be able to get it in Chiffon Pink, Mint, and Oxford Gray, which are very gentle colorways.
The Hardware
The first thing you’ll notice with the Tab S6 Lite (2024) is its big screen. It has a 10.4-inch 2000 x 1200 TFT display. The aspect ratio is 5:3, which makes it a lot easier to work with and multitask.
Beyond the display, you’ll get 4GB of RAM paired with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, but its microSD slot can take up to a 1TB card for even more. There’s no info on the exact chipset at play, though it is an octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four at 2.0 GHz.
The battery is a big 7,040 mAh cell, so it should get you plenty of screen-on time. Charging only maxes out at 15W, so this will likely have to charge for two or three full hours before it gets full.
The Cameras
This tablet isn’t meant for social media or anything, so the cameras aren’t anything groundbreaking. There’s a main 8MP module with autofocus on the back (and no flash), and a 5MP module on the front. Both support recording at a maximum of FHD at 30fps.
Miscellaneous
The Tab S6 Lite (2024) runs on Android 14 and One UI 6.1, which is cool. You get a headphone jack, a USB Type-C 2.0 port that supports Samsung DeX, and Bluetooth 5.3. One star feature is the S Pen, though, which can dock magnetically on the edge of the device. This is perfect for note-taking, drawing, and general productivity.
The Pricing And Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) is going to be available internationally from March 28th. While there’s no exact pricing information yet, the Tab S6 Lite (2022) launched at $350, so I’ll be expecting the same price tag (since it doesn’t bring an exponential amount more than the 2022 model did).
