While its expected launch in August is still a while away, rumors about Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4 are gathering pace with reports suggesting that the clamshell foldable will enjoy a bigger battery capacity than its predecessor and that it could be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor. If accurate, this would mean that the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s main flaw, poor battery life, has been taken into account by Samsung.
According to some 3C certification documents courtesy of MyFixGuide, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will feature a pair of batteries known as EB-BF723ABY (as is normal for many smartphones now) which hint at a 100mAh bump in capacity to 3,300mAh. That’s ok but it’s hardly going to change much which is why we are more excited to find out that Samsung is also testing batteries (EB-BF724ABY)with a combined capacity of 3,595mAh which would be an increase of almost 300mAh. That sort of bump in capacity should move the needle a little bit when it comes to battery life, and hopefully, the test proves to be successful.
The other report comes via a GeekBench result which reveals that the US variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor, with 8GB of RAM, and running One UI 4.5 out of the box.
With Samsung reportedly launching a trio of foldable phones this year, it may be that we could see a ‘Lite’ version of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 which could feature the lesser batteries. That’s pure conjecture on my part, though.
