Samsung’s Good Lock Update Goes Global With A Redesigned Interface

Weeks ago, Samsung announced that their popular Good Lock app will soon be available globally on the Google Play Store. It has been limited to certain regions via the Galaxy Store. A new update, tied to the rollout of One UI 7, is supposed to make it more mainstream and easier for users to customize their Galaxy devices.

The Good Lock update is now live and has been noticeably redesigned with new tools making appearances. Here’s everything that’s changed.

Good Lock app gets much needed makeover

Samsung has officially launched the updated Good Lock app with version 3.0.10.1, alongside One UI 7 and the Galaxy S25 series. Good Lock gives you freedom to customize your Galaxy phone in ways you can’t with the normal settings using special tools called modules.

For example, the LockStar module lets you revamp your lock screen, while NotiStar presents different ways to manage notifications better. The app is for developers or anyone who wants more control over how their phone looks and works.

The new app shifts from an icon-heavy layout to a simpler list view, and the bottom tab now leads to three menus instead of two: Terrace, Plugins, and You. Previously, there were Unit and Family.

The Terrace section is where you’ll see announcements, updates, and insights about Good Lock features and related modules. Meanwhile, the Plugins tab merges the previous Makeup and Life Up sections to organize all the available Good Lock modules, including Theme Park, Wonderland, LockStar, and others.

These plugins enhance customization, allowing you to tweak themes, create wallpapers, and adjust screen elements. The You tab is just as implied. It’s the personalized section where you manage your favorite Good Lock apps and see your preferred settings in effect.

In addition to the interface redesign and widgets, Samsung has even left a small gift for you in the top right corner. Tap the tiny gift box and you’ll find two fresh widgets for your home screen, Mini and Cassette, with eight new wallpapers.

Mini is a 1×1 widget that provides access to all your Good Lock modules in one small space on your home screen. Cassette is a larger 4×2 widget that lets you add up to four modules to the home screen. When you tap any of them, the widget changes color to indicate that it’s active.

The app now has a new search tool to help you find specific modules or features quickly. If you’re ever unsure about how to use something within the app, there’s also a Good Lock Talk button that triggers a chatbot. The smart assistant can answer your questions and point you in the right direction.

The update is now rolling out gradually, but it might take a while before you can download and see the changes, depending on where you live. Also, you won’t see all updated modules at once. Although some already work with One UI 7, others are still being refined and not ready for public release.
