Samsung’s S25 Looks Like The S24, But Do You Really Care?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 is expected in the first month of next year and considering we’re about two weeks away from the last quarter of the year, it’s close. As always, the leaks will start flowing in as the launch gets closer and it’s already started, with the phone’s design being the first thing to head our way.

Thanks to OnLeaks and Android Headlines, we have a look at what the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 is going to look like. The thing is, it looks exactly like the S24 from January this year. However, the question is: is that even a big deal in the first place? Let’s talk about it.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Design Has Leaked; It Looks Just Like The S24

The first renders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 have leaked, giving us a glimpse into what Samsung considers the future of smartphone design, and the future looks pretty much like the present. Yep, if you were expecting a facelift mentality over at Samsung HQ, next year isn’t the year for it. The Samsung Galaxy S25 is going to look painfully similar to the Galaxy S24.

The phone maintains its rounded corners and thin bezels (I can’t tell if they’ve gotten any thinner — it’ll be smaller in all dimensions though, so probably a yes) and the flat frame makes a return since that’s the in-thing right now. The screen stays flat and so does the back panel. We can see Samsung branding in the bottom section of the back panel and a triple-camera setup and LED flash in the upper section.

There’s literally only one change that can be spotted by the naked eye in the S25 design, and that’s the thick black rings around the camera lenses. For context, the S24 had thinner rings around each camera, and the color was determined by the actual colorway that you bought. Similar to the S25 Ultra renders that were recently leaked, it seems the black rings might extend across all devices and colorways in the S25 family.

Should You Really Care If A Phone’s Successor Doesn’t Get A Radical New Design?

We tend to put a lot of pressure on smartphone manufacturers when they release a new device and it looks nearly identical to the one that came before it. It can be particularly annoying when this happens 4 or more years in a row. The S25 will look just like the S24 and be extremely similar — bar the frame — to the S23. Even the S21 and S22 have a bit of a similar layout.

But as has famously been echoed for years, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” — do you think that applies to smartphones? When a company nails a design, is it a crime if they hold onto it for as long as they can? On the other hand, when you buy a $1,000+ smartphone, there’s an urge to show it off, and what’s the point if someone might mistake your 2025 smartphone for one you bought in 2023? There are two sides to the coin.

In my opinion, I don’t think it’s that much of a big deal especially when the design is already amazing. However, I do understand why people get riled up over stagnant designs. Do you have a different point of view? Let us know in the comments.
