We just reached peak computer dongle. Satechi’s new USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter looks and acts like a regular USB-C hub, but it features a hidden M.2 SATA SSD enclosure to expand the storage of your Mac or PC.

The new Multiport Adapter looks like a killer product for on-the-go work, or for those times when you want to use your laptop with a desktop monitor. Along with its SSD enclosure, the Multiport Adapter packs two USB-A ports, a USB-C PD port for passthrough charging, and a 4K-capable HDMI jack. (Sadly, the HDMI port only supports 60Hz refresh rates.)

While the Satechi Multiport Adapter costs more than other USB-C hubs, its $90 price tag seems appropriate for what it has to offer. Standalone M.2 SATA SSD enclosures cost about $20 a pop, and at the end of the day, they’re just another thing to carry around.

You can order the new Satechi USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter for $90 at Amazon or the Satechi website. Bear in mind that this adapter doesn’t come with an M.2 SATA SSD; it just has a built-in enclosure.
