Soon, You’ll Be Able To Share Passwords With Your Family Group Easily
If you keep your ear to the ground on Google news, you might have heard that Google implemented a feature in Chrome that allows you to share passwords with family members, right from Google Password Manager. Well, it seems that the feature is also going to be coming to Android devices, making it extra convenient.
Thanks to a keen-eyed journalist from TheSpAndroid who did a bit of digging, it was found that the latest version of Google Play Services has a currently disabled feature hidden in it that allows you to share passwords from Google Password Manager. You’ll see the addition of a Share button that allows you to securely share your password with someone, though it will only work with somebody who is in your Family Group.
While you can enable the feature if you have a rooted device and the GMS Flags application installed, you won’t be able to use it, as the functionality hasn’t been activated yet. Regardless, it is great to know that this feature is already half-done, and will soon be ready for our consumption. As to when, there’s no confirmed date, but I’d expect it to launch in early Q2 if it doesn’t make it out this month.
What Is A Google Family Group?
A Google Family Group is the best way for you to bundle all the convenience of the Google ecosystem into a single place for up to six people. Do you know how you can sync some Google services across all your devices that are logged into the account? It’s something like that, but it also lets you share some services while everyone has a unique account.
For instance, with a Family Group, you can get a single YouTube Premium subscription that covers the entire family for cheaper than it would individually. This can extend to other YouTube services like YouTube TV and YouTube Music.
You can also get cool family-synced features across apps like Google Calendar, Google Keep, and even Google Assistant (you can specifically ask it to remind a specific person in the group about something!). Plus, you can even share purchases on Google Play with the rest of the family. It even comes with several features that will prove very useful for people looking to manage what children do online.
Password Sharing Will Soon Join Family Group Features
Family Groups are incredibly useful if you have a bunch of people with Android phones in the same household, especially when some of them are children. Starting a Family Group can make things a lot more convenient, considering all the family-friendly features it comes with. Plus, it’ll be getting password sharing soon, so even better.
