‘She is not your token’: Joe Rogan slammed for saying only Michelle Obama could beat Trump in 2024

Joe Rogan sparked controversy after suggesting Michelle Obama would defeat former President Donald Trump if the two faced each other in the 2024 presidential election.

Twitter users slammed Rogan’s suggestion that the former first lady, who enjoyed high approval ratings during her husband’s time in the White House, could team up with Vice President Kamala Harris to defeat Trump in 2024.

“She is not your token,” journalist Stephanie Guerilus tweeted Wednesday.

Rogan told comedian Tom Dillon that Obama would prevail if she ran in 2024 because she’s “intelligent” and “articulate.”

“I really believe that if Michelle Obama runs, I think she wins. She’s great,” he said during a podcast Thursday. “She’s the wife of the best president we’ve had in our lifetime.”

Rogan said only support for stringent COVID-19 policies could derail the former first lady’s run should she enter the race.

“The only thing that would stop her is if she bought into some of these policies that are destroying businesses in America that make people scared,” he said.

Rogan suggested that even a “super team” of Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would not be enough to beat Obama.

A Hill-HarrisX poll of 939 registered voters from Nov. 18-19 with a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points found that Harris and Obama top the list of prospective Democrat contenders in 2024 if President Joe Biden does not seek reelection. Harris topped the list with 13% support, and Obama came in second with 10% support.

Obama has previously indicated she has no plans to run for the presidency. Her husband, former President Barack Obama, has said that while he would support her, he believes she would never run for office, the Independent reported.

Biden has repeatedly expressed his intent to run for reelection in 2024. He is currently 79 years old and would be 82 years old at the start of a second term if he won in 2024.
