Odell Beckham Jr. is no stranger to making big plays on the gridiron — and now he’s making one on the cryptocurrency market.
The former New York Giants star was released by the Cleveland Browns earlier this month, but has since signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams for a base salary of $750K — the contract could reach upwards of $4M, including incentives.
Beckham Jr. took to Twitter to announce that he will receive his new salary in Bitcoin as part of his partnership with Cash App. Beckham will also give away $1 million in Bitcoin to fans as part of the promotion.
“It’s a NEW ERA & to kick that off I’m hyped to announce that I’m taking my new salary in bitcoin,” Beckham Jr. wrote on Twitter.
The Pro Bowl receiver isn’t the only NFLer converting his contract — fellow stars Russell Okung, Trevor Lawrence, and Aaron Rodgers are among others reportedly taking the same route.
Currently, one Bitcoin is worth more than $57K. If Beckham Jr. is lucky, the Rams investment in him just might pay off as well as his investment in crypto.
