If you’re hoping to enjoy the outdoors before the weather turns too chilly, now would be the perfect time to visit an apple orchard or pumpkin patch in the area. Celebrate the turn of the season and the brilliant autumn colors with apple cider, pies, or other fall treats. Here are six apple orchards to visit and experience with family and friends.

Aamodt’s Apple Farm

This farm was opened in 1948 by the same apple-growing family that owns the property today, with over 6,000 apple trees. The farm has apple picking, wagon rides, and an apple barn, as well as a bakery with food and drink options, highlighting apple brats, salsa, and Thor’s hard cider made right on the farm.

Afton Apple Orchard

Head to the St. Croix valley to visit this family owned and operated orchard that features an abundance of apples, pumpkins, fall raspberries, and other seasonal fruits across a 250-acre farm. The property also holds a corn maze, petting farm, and hayrides to entertain fall visitors.

Montgomery Orchard

Established in 2004, this apple orchard’s mission is to provide a refreshing outdoor experience for their visitors. With live music, hayrides, and tours of the orchard, Montgomery offers many ways to enjoy the outdoors. The farm also has hard cider and wine, homemade caramel apples, and jellies and jams to choose from.

Pine Tree Apple Orchard

Just northeast of the Twin Cities, this apple orchard has a variety of apples, pumpkins, and homemade bakery items, as well as hot cider and caramel apples to enjoy. Started by a family in the 1950s, the farm prides itself on the tradition of providing fresh local produce. This orchard also features a corn maze.

Whistling Well Farm

Visitors to the St. Paul Farmer’s Market may recognize this farm’s name. The farm features apples to choose from, fresh-baked goods including apple pies, fritters, and donuts, and a pumpkin patch, as well as decorative squash and gourds. Whistling Well also hosts live music and other fall activities.

Sweetland Orchard

Just 45 minutes from the Twin Cities, Sweetland Orchard has over 100 varieties of apples along with pears and tart cherries, as well as a barn with chickens and hogs and a store with donuts, cider, and more. Take a stroll through the orchard and enjoy the quiet of the countryside.
