Since Apple allowed sideloading on iPhone and iPad in the EU through App Marketplaces, we’ve seen the rise of a few alternatives to Apple’s App Store. Now there’s another alternative app store coming, as Skich, a platform for discovering new mobile games, is launching its own App Marketplace for iOS users in the EU.
Skich Store is a new App Marketplace for games
With Skich Store, users can not only download games from third-party developers, but also find suggestions for new games based on what they like.
According to the platform, mobile gamers “often struggle to find titles that match their preferences, while developers face increasing competition for visibility.” Skich Store aims to solve these challenges by offering a recommendation system built around more than 240 game genres, 14 times more than the App Store, allowing players to find titles that really match their interests.
The store also has a discoverability system similar to that of dating apps. You can swipe right to save games that look interesting to you, or swipe left to skip them. Skich also provides lists of games and social interactions, so you can see what your friends are playing and recommending.
In addition to games distributed through the Skich Store, the app also helps players find games available on Apple’s App Store, giving developers additional exposure.
Skich Store is now available to download on iOS from the platform’s official website. Of course, since it requires sideloading, only iPhone and iPad users in the EU can install the new App Marketplace. The original Skich app for finding new games is available globally on Apple’s App Store.
