What Is The Snapchat Solar System?
Snapchat’s Solar System is a pretty cool feature included as one of the perks of a Snapchat+ subscription. By checking your friendship profile with a friend, you can see whether you’re Friends or Best Friends, which is cool, but the Solar System lets you know exactly where you rank in the list of friends.
Think of it like this: if you check a friend’s solar system, they are represented by the sun and if you’re in their top 8 best friends, you’ll be represented as one of the eight planets in our solar system, from Mercury to Neptune. Likewise, if they have Snapchat+, they can check your solar system to see where they rank. This ranking is based on who you send the most Snaps and messages to.
You can see where you are in a friend’s solar system, but you won’t be able to see who occupies any of their other planets. This feature is solely so you can know where you stand in someone else’s Snapchat life.
How Do I View Snapchat Planets For One Of My Friends?
Now, if you want to view where you are in a friend’s Snapchat Solar System (AKA, which Snapchat Planet you are in their solar system), you’re going to need to have a Snapchat+ subscription first of all. If you don’t have one, you simply won’t have access to this feature.
Once you’re subscribed, tap on the person’s profile icon in your Chat menu to open their friendship profile. In that menu, alongside where their Snapscore, birthday, and other details are, you should see a gold-trimmed “Best Friends” badge (which means you’re mutual best friends) or a gold-trimmed “Friends” badge (which means you fall into their best friends, but they don’t fall into yours). The gold trim means you can check which planet you are in their solar system. If it isn’t gold-trimmed, you fall outside their top eight friends.
When you tap on it, you’ll be shown a little graphic with the person’s Bitmoji’s face depicted as the sun, and your Bitmoji sitting on the planet that you represent in their solar system and that’s it! It’s features like these that make Snapchat a little more friendly than chatting on Instagram or WhatsApp.
What Is The Order Of The Planets And What Do They Mean?
You know how to check which planet you are in a person’s solar system, which is great, but the important part is being able to identify the planets and understanding what each of them actually signifies. After all, the illustrations are cool but everyone wants to know their actual ranking. Let’s talk about them below, with each of the respective pictures.
Mercury
Ah, Mercury. The closest planet to the sun in the real solar system, and the closest person to your friend in the Snapchat solar system. Mercury is represented by a dark orange-brown-ish planet with numerous craters across it. This is the coveted position for anyone, if you can’t tell by the five red hearts floating around in the picture.
Venus
Venus is the second spot and it’s not a bad place to find yourself as someone’s friend. It’s the second planet in our real solar system and it is a striped planet with light-brown, tan, and sand-colored swathes running horizontally. You’ll also see two pink hearts, two light-orange hearts, and one blue heart floating in the photo.
Earth
Earth is the third planet from the sun and it’s the planet we all know and love since it’s the only one you can use Google Maps to navigate. It is instantly distinguishable with it large blue oceans and green land masses. Earth is also pretty cool in the Snapchat solar system because it’s the only planet with an included moon. There are also four red hearts and three yellow stars in the picture. Being the bronze medalist friend isn’t bad, is it?
Mars
If you’re big into the concept of extra-terrestrials and extraplanetary life, you must love Mars. Mars gets the fourth spot and means that you’re your friend’s fourth best friend. Sure, you miss out on a podium finish, but being fourth in line isn’t that bad, is it? Mars is a bright red planet with craters. There are two purple hearts, a blue heart, and multiple colored stars in the shot.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system but it doesn’t mean you’re the biggest friend, unfortunately. You get the fifth spot, which is where you might start to feel a little less significant. The planet has orange, brown, and tan swathes running horizontally. Snapchat chose this point to drop the hearts in the illustrations, because you can’t really feel the love as strongly in the fifth spot, can you?
Saturn
Saturn is one of the easiest planets to recognize, considering it is the a light brown planet with rings running around it. If you see that you’re Saturn in a friend’s solar system, it probably doesn’t feel great being in the sixth spot, but it is what it is; at least you get a cool planet for your Bitmoji to sit on. You’ll see five stars of different colors scattered arround the picture, with some colored circles as well.
Uranus
Nobody wants to be Uranus. Elementary school jokes aside, it’s a pretty basic spot to find yourself in as it means you’re #7 on your friend’s list of best friends. I mean, being in the top 8 is great in the first place, but it’s normal for all of us to want to rank relatively high on that list. Uranus is depicted as a planets with greenish hues running in the vertical axis. There are four small yellow stars and two tiny blue stars in the illustration.
Neptune
Neptune is the very last spot in your friend’s solar system, and at this point, your friend’s Bitmoji only has a very basic smile to lend you. But hey, at least you ranked in their solar system, and that counts for a lot, doesn’t it? Neptune is a dark blue planets with the occasional light blue stroke going through it. There are three light blue stars floating around in the image.
