Southington’s Apple Harvest Festival to open September 30


The Apple Harvest Festival in Southington opens Friday, Sept. 30. The six-day event takes place over two weekends in the fall. This year, the dates are Friday, Sept. 30 – Sunday, Oct. 2 and Friday, Oct. 7 – Sunday, Oct. 9.  Here is all you need to know about the Southington Apple Harvest Festival.

According to the site, the Apple Harvest Festival is one of the largest and longest-running events in the Northeast, drawing crowds of over 100,000 people. Various vendors will have booths offering crafts, food, children’s activities and more.

What kind of entertainment will be at the Apple Harvest Festival?

Festival-goers can also expect live entertainment like a laser light show, fireworks, apple fritter and pie eating contests and the annual Apple Harvest Festival Parade. Additionally, there will be live arts and crafts show Oct. 8 and 9 at 11:00 a.m. where handmade goods and crafts will be displayed at various vendors. What kind of food will be at the Apple Harvest Festival?

The website describes the festival as a “food-lover’s dream” and will have many different food vendors offering things like classic New England lobster rolls and clam chowders and more traditional fair food like hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream. 

Seasonal treats:

Seasonal fall specialities like pumpkin spice fritters, apple fritters, apple empanadas, frozen apple cider slushies and apple crisp with spiked ice cream (for those 21+) will also be available at the Apple Harvest Festival. Admission to the Apple Harvest Festival is free. Parking at Southington High School (720 Pleasant Street) and the shuttle service are also free of charge.
