Don’t trust a person who doesn’t listen to music—they might be an advance party for an alien race. Music is such a major part of the human experience that it’s hard to imagine why someone wouldn’t enjoy it. While we all listen to different genres and artists, it’s easy to say that music makes us all feel better when it needs to.
Spotify is the biggest music streaming platform in the world, but it has lacked one major feature: high-resolution audio. That’s not due to a lack of demand, as Apple Music has had it for a very long time (and it’s one thing that its users hold over Spotify). However, this year, Spotify might finally introduce its Music Pro plan to change that.
Spotify Could Finally Bring in Its High-Res Audio Plan Later This Year
If you’ve ever listened to a low-quality music file, you know how much more high-quality music can offer. It is much more enjoyable when you hear the music with clearer vocals and instruments—it’s a lot closer to what the artist wanted you to hear when they made the track. The music that you hear on Spotify, as it is now, sounds great to most people. But when you compare it to a platform with hi-res audio support, the difference is clear.
Spotify has been talking about its plans to introduce a plan that supports hi-res and lossless audio playback, similar to what platforms like Tidal and Apple Music have. However, they’ve been talking about that for the last four years, and despite many points where it has seemed like it might happen, nothing has materialized to date.
It’s important to keep a little doubt in mind, but Bloomberg has just reported that Spotify could finally be ready to launch its hi-fi audio plan, called Music Pro, later in 2025. There isn’t a more precise date to work with, but things should get more precise as the day approaches. This feels like it could actually be the one, but I’m making sure not to get my hopes up too high.
How Much Will Spotify’s Music Pro Plan Cost?
Spotify won’t be able to provide access to hi-res audio for free since it involves working out additional deals with music providers. Understandably, that means you’re going to have to pay a little something extra. But how much will that be?
Well, according to Bloomberg’s report, the plan will cost an extra $6 a month. On top of Spotify’s top plan, which is Premium, it would cost an individual $17.99 each month. That’s quite a bit of money, and going for the plan depends majorly on how much you really want a better listening experience.
What Other Perks Will Spotify Music Pro Come With?
Interestingly, hi-res audio won’t be the only thing that Music Pro brings to the table for $6 extra. It is also reported that users will get access to concert tickets (whether that’s early access, priority access, or simply just a way to buy them, isn’t certain) and remixing tools (that could likely involve AI). The only time all of this will be set in stone, though, is when Spotify announces it.
