When our own Brendan Lowry reviewed Stalker 2, he proclaimed it was one of the most captivating open-world shooters he’s ever played for its engrossing atmosphere, rewarding exploration, and intriguing story. Yet the huge amounts of frustrating technical bugs and performance issues, and a broken AI-simulator system dubbed ‘A-life’ were too big to ignore and held the game back from achieving its full potential.

Thankfully, GSC had been hard at work addressing these issues a timely fashion. GSC fixed the Xbox controller’s deadzone issues in the game’s first post-launch patch, its second post-launch update squashed a devastating bug that caused save files to be erased, and now this latest update aims to fix the remaining bugs and make sure the game’s A-Life is functioning as intended.

Hopefully with Patch 1.1’s gameplay fixes, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be in a much more stable state than when it first launched and can finally be enjoyed by players the way the developers intended.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has arrived on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, and is one of this year’s best Xbox games and best PC games. It has a $59.99 MSRP, but notably, you can get it for a discount at CDKeys right now. You can also play it through Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
