T-Mobile Has Recalled Its Revvl 7 Pro – Here’s Why

When a company has to recall a product, it creates problems for both the company that made it and the stores selling it. For the company, recalls can hurt its reputation. Among other setbacks, it can make customers less likely to buy from them again. For stores, recalls mean losing money on the products they can’t sell.

Recently, T-Mobile has recalled the Revvl 7 Pro from all retailers. They’ve pulled the smartphone from sale and retailers are instructed to return all units, including demo models. For now, there are no instructions for customers who already bought it.

T-Mobile’s Revvl 7 Pro recalled for underperformance

Initially, T-Mobile didn’t say why it has recalled its Revvl 7 Pro phone three months after launching it in stores. They only claimed that it’s to maintain high-quality standards. However, a representative recently told Android Authority that it’s because the device was underperforming.

We paused sales on REVVL 7 Pro 5G devices after a small number of customers shared that the devices weren’t performing up to par. We’re working quickly to make them available for sale again and continue to have many device options for our customers.

In the distributed notice shared by The Mobile Report, the deadline for returns is August 14th. If you’re a retailer, you need to complete a return RMA in the Assurant Portal. Oddly enough, T-Mobile requires you to choose the Remorse Return option.

Normally, that means you return the product because you’ve changed your mind or regret your purchase. But it makes more sense that the form doesn’t have a specific category, and you’re choosing the closest option to streamline the return process.

Speculations on clunky software and crashing apps

It’s not taken long for fans to speculate why T-Mobile has pulled back the Revvl 7 Pro. They’ve taken to Reddit to share experiences of the Phone app crashing repeatedly, and making it unusable for calls. Regardless, it’s not the end for the phone, and it will probably return after the issues have been fixed. According to T-Mobile, they plan to make more Revvl 7 Pro phones.

T-Mobile announced the Revvl 7 Pro phone alongside the base Revvl 7 model on May 14, and promised “best-in-class features without breaking the bank”. The Revvl 7 5G has a 6.58-inch IPS LCD screen, while the Pro model has a larger 6.78-inch AMOLED display. Both phones use the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, so their performance should be similar. However, the Revvl 7 PRO 5G has 8GB RAM, compared to the 6GB in the REVVL 7 5G. In terms of storage, the base phone comes with 128GB, while the PRO 5G offers 256GB.

For cameras, the Revvl 7 5G has a triple camera setup with a 50MP main camera. The Revvl 7 PRO 5G features a quad camera setup with the same 50MP main camera plus ultrawide, macro, and depth cameras, and it includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). They both use a 5000mAh battery, but the Pro 5G supports faster 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
