TCL’s Affordable New Flip Phones Have an 18-Day Battery Life – Review Geek

TCL may not be releasing its cutting-edge foldables anytime soon, but it’s now launching a pair of old-fashioned flip phones, the TCL FLIP Pro and Alcatel GO FLIP 4. And for a pair of affordable feature phones, these puppies really pack a punch.

Funny enough, the TCL FLIP Pro and Alcatel GO FLIP 4 are actually the same phone with different names. The TCL-branded unit is a Verizon prepaid exclusive (coming to Verizon postpaid soon), while the Alcatel GO FLIP 4 is strictly a T-Mobile and Metro fare.

Both phones have a bright 2.8-inch internal screen and 1.44-inch external display. Their batteries reach a maximum 18 hours of use in standby mode and can endure a 12-hour long phone call. Large buttons and a loud speakerphone are major selling points here, along with Bluetooth support and compatibility with most hearing aids.

Interestingly, TCL packed Google Maps, Gmail, and Google Search apps into these feature phones. Support for these apps, along with 4G networking, makes the TCL FLIP Pro and Alcatel GO FLIP 4 a compelling option for anyone who’s trying to ditch the world of smartphones.

Here are some pricing options for the phones:

    • TCL FLIP Pro
    • Alcatel GO FLIP 4
      • T-Mobile: $4 a month for 24 months
      • Metro: $100 retail, $50 when upgrading, or free when you add a new line

You can find the TCL FLIP Pro at most Verizon stores, though it isn’t available on the Verizon website just yet. The Alcatel GO FLIP 4 is available online and in-store at T-Mobile. You should also find the GO FLIP 4 at Metro locations and, eventually, the Metro website.
