I will be the first to admit I am neither an award winning podcaster, or a serious YouTuber.

However, I reckon I am on more work video calls than most people, and I was getting really frustrated with the mic built in to bluetooth headphones, or the one included with my computer.

I am often required to record audio through work and with occasional podcast appearances, I needed a better option.

This professional microphone set up from Maono is geared up for everything that I could need, and more.

With 192kHz/24-bit ultra-HD audio, the sound is crystal clear with rich depth that makes sure everything you are saying comes over really well and sounds great.

It has a five-layer noise reduction system that filters out background noise and interference, allowing the mic to deliver your voice as it is intended.

It is designed for use by music professionals in addition to podcasting and gaming and has a deep enough level of performance to handle that with ease.

There is a software that comes with it that allows you to fine tune the performance of the mic to your own requirements and it also enables you to choose from presets including gaming, podcasting, recording and streaming.

The mic comes with a handy mute button and a dial that allows you to tweak the mic gain, headphone gain, or monitor mix.

The foam windshield is really high quality and allows the mic to deliver broadcast quality performance.

In short, this is a serious bit of kit with a very high performance. The thing I liked most about the mic is the simplicity and set-up.

A quick clamp to the table, screw the mic in to the arm, and I was away. The instructions for hooking up to headphonesd was very simple and in truth it was an absolute doddle to get started with.

I have been using this problem free for the last three weeks and I can’t find any negatives to write about.

Obviously if you are a very serious podcaster, you might want to spend more, but for me this was a great product with a really high performance.

The PD300X is available from the Maono website and Amazon UK for £89.99.

“The Sound is good and detailed. With 24 bits at 192 kHz, but the wind protection is not crazy crazy.”

“I can’t find any software for IOS. On the front of the box it says iPhone, iPad, iPod, but no instructions on how to use with this microphone. It has software for windows that you can download from the site. I’m kind of lost with this one.”
