Apple TV+ has announced a musical holiday special starring Hannah Waddingham from “Ted Lasso,” from the makers of Apple’s previous Mariah Carey Christmas specials.
After two successful — and reportedly very costly — Christmas specials for Apple TV+, Mariah Carey will this year be appearing on CBS instead. In her place, Apple TV+ has commissioned “Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas.”
Apple says that the show will “deliver a captivating night to remember, featuring dazzling performances and musical numbers from the Olivier-nominated actress Hannah Waddingham, as well as special surprise guests.”
“The special will be recorded live in front of an audience at the London Coliseum,” continued Apple, “and audiences around the world will be able to join Waddingham in celebrating her favorite time of year on Apple TV+ as she performs festive classics accompanied by her spectacular big band.”
Hamish Hamilton, director of Apple’s Rhianna halftime show at the Super Bowl, will direct the new special.
