Tesla Gets Board Review in Car Anti-Rollover Patent Battle

Tesla Inc. will be permitted to challenge the validity of a patent underlying an infringement lawsuit against the company over vehicles equipped with Autopilot, an administrative tribunal decided.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Dec. 23 grantedTesla’s request to institute an “inter partes review” of nearly two dozen claims regarding Arsus LLC’s patent on a rollover prevention apparatus.
