Google Clock
It makes sense that Google’s product is the top alarm choice for Android devices. It’s free, familiar, and preinstalled on your phone or tablet, so you won’t waste mobile data downloading it. However, custom Android versions may still need to install it from the Play Store.Â
Clock integrates with other services, like the Google assistant, for expanded Artificial Intelligence (AI) and hands-free functionality. You can manage your clock and set routines with voice commands. The basic features include an alarm, clock, timer, stopwatch, and bedtime menus. There’s a settings menu where you can change clock styles, timer sounds and more.
Alarmy
Alarmy offers similar features to Google Clock, with the addition of sleep monitoring. You’ll know your sleep latency, time spent in bed, and if you snored through the night. The app uses your device’s mic to track your breathing, and sensors on your phone to detect device shifts when you toss and turn.
Knowing these metrics help you know if you have a health problem, and when you need to improve sleep conditions. If you have trouble resting, there’s a library of relaxing sounds to play and doze off quicker. You can also check your horoscope, and daily news in multiple languages.Â
AMdroid
Also known as Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers, this app is ironically light. The user interface is quite bare, which is a good thing as it doesn’t throw features in your face immediately you open it. Everything you need to manage alarms exists in the top right or left expandable sidebars with your alarms concentrated in the middle of the screen.Â
You can create reusable settings, and filter your view when you don’t want to see expired or inactive alarms. There are stopwatch, timer, and off days controls, with a menu for monitoring stats. It won’t track your snoring or motion activity, but it will observe the sleep time elapsed, alarms set, and how much you’ve snoozed them.
Alarm Clock Xtreme & Timer
Alarm Clock Xtreme & Timer stands out as a highly customizable app, and it’s one you literally can’t ignore. It features the options to play your favorite music, adjust snooze settings, and solve math problems to disable alarms. It’s optional, but effective. You’re less likely to fall asleep with a blaring sound you can only turn off when you complete your task.
The app’s versatility extends to offering multiple alarm options, including recurring and one-time alarms. There are extra tools including a timer, stopwatch, and a “My Day” section for checking weather and calendar events. All these features exist on the free version, but if you want to remove ads, set themes, and receive direct support, you’ll upgrade to the premium plan. The app does bring privacy concerns as you have to consent to it using your data for tailored ads.
I Can’t Wake Up
This app’s UI looks almost empty, but it’s more powerful than you’d think. One feature that stands out is the alarm quitting prevention. It goes as far as blocking you from force stopping or uninstalling the app when you have unfinished alarms. This setting makes the app an administrator on your device, so you’ll want to think twice before enabling the feature.
You can also set alarms to lock minutes before they start, so that you can’t easily disable them. In terms of appearance, you can choose from different theme colors ranging from the default green to legacy black. Also, you can make your alarms appear bigger or smaller.
Find your perfect wake up companion
Most of the aforementioned apps have numerous features serving different purposes. Whether you need an alarm clock that easily breaks through deep sleep patterns or track health metrics, you can find the right app from you on the Google Play Store. Many provide their free versions for you to experiment with. If the first app you try doesn’t suit your needs, don’t hesitate to switch to another.
