Today, Apple announced the 2022 App Store Award winners. The company highlighted 16 apps that “inspired users to engage more deeply with the world, expand their imaginations, and stay connected to friends and loved ones.” Award categories include apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch.
Best iPhone Apps
Apple’s best overall pick for iPhone is the photo-sharing app BeReal. This app lets users share a photo once a day about what’s happening in their daily lives. Once a day, users are notified to hop into the app and make a post at the exact same time as all their friends.

Best Game: Apex Legends Mobile
The other iPhone app highlighted by Apple is the mobile version of the massively popular Apex Legends franchise.
Best iPad Apps
The iPad App of the Year winner is the note-taking and PDF markup program: GoodNotes 5. It allows you to make digital notes and sync them across all your iOS and macOS devices.

Best Game: Moncage
The puzzle game Moncage took home the award for iPad Game of the Year. The game takes place inside a mysterious cube where each side houses a unique setting like a factory, a light tower, an amusement park, or a church.
Best Mac Apps
The Mac App of the Year is the genealogy program MacFamilyTree 10. This app lets users track their family history as far back as information is available.

Best Game: Inscryption
Inscryption took home the prize for Mac Game of the Year. This card-based game is a psychological horror game that delves deep into escape-room-style puzzles to uncover the secrets of a haunted cabin.
The Best of the Rest
Apple rounded out its top picks with apps and games for the Apple TV and Apple Watch. Plus, it selected a game specifically for China, and gave out special awards for games with cultural impact.
