The Bitcoin Opportunity Fund Launches and Sets Out to Raise $100M Fund

The new fund will help high net-worth investors diversify into public and private opportunities in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

BOSTON , March 16, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Today, The Bitcoin Opportunity Fund announced it is raising a $100M fund to give high net-worth investors the opportunity to invest in the Bitcoin ecosystem. The fund will focus on both public and private Bitcoin -adjacent companies, a landscape filled with oversold and distressed assets and asymmetric opportunities for those with ready capital.

“The Bitcoin Opportunity Fund is focused on Bitcoin -only, because Bitcoin is superior to all other cryptocurrencies,” said James Lavish, Managing Partner. ” Bitcoin has unique properties of decentralization, censorship-resistance, and scarcity, enabling it to serve as the foundation for the next technological revolution. Bitcoin will disrupt and create new financial markets, and we believe it is important to diversify assets into this space.”

“This is the exact time investors should invest in this space with an experienced team,” said David Foley, Managing Partner. “We are launching this fund when asset prices are depressed in the Bitcoin ecosystem due to broader cryptocurrency industry contagion. This overcorrection has produced outsized risk/reward opportunities that are asymmetric to the upside. We are still very early in Bitcoin ‘s story. Our fund puts investors in a strong position to take advantage of attractive investment opportunities at bargain prices.”

The fund will use a hybrid approach of public and private investments to optimize returns while helping grow the Bitcoin ecosystem across multiple layers, starting with the Lightning Network layer and the application layer.

” Bitcoin entrepreneurs continue to build and innovate, bringing new applications, tools, and services to market,” said Cory Klippsten, Partner and investment committee member. “Our flexible investment mandate allows us to take advantage of the best opportunities, whether that’s in public or private, early or late stage, or anywhere in the capital structure. We will be investing in founders and projects across the ecosystem, including Bitcoin mining, infrastructure, financial services, the Lightning Network, and other applications.”

The fund is comprised of experienced investors who are deeply-rooted in the Bitcoin community and led by:
Managing Partner, James Lavish, CFA and former COO of LKCM Alternative Investments, LLC
Managing Partner, David Foley , Partner Equity Management Associates, LLC
Partner and IC member, Cory Klippsten , CEO and Co-Founder of Swan Bitcoin
Partner, Larry Lepard , Portfolio Manager Equity Management Associates, LLC
Partner, Greg Foss , Executive Director and Bitcoin strategist at Validus Power
