Smart rings are a cool option for people that want the health/fitness tracking benefits of a smartwatch, without the fluff. They sync to your phone and provide useful insights. Now, the Circular Ring 2 is here, and it’s positioning itself to be one of the coolest smart rings we’ve seen.
Following an initial unveiling at CES 2025, Circular has finally officially opened pre-orders for its next-generation smart ring, the Circular Ring 2. The Circular Ring 2 builds upon the features of its predecessor, the Ring Slim, while introducing several significant upgrades. One of them is a new digital sizing feature when you’re buying the ring. This feature allows you to determine their correct ring size using your smartphone before placing an order. If this is any accurate, it would eliminate the need for traditional sizing kits and cut down on people accidentally getting the wrong size.

If you’re over smartwatches, but want sleep and fitness tracking a smart ring may be your best bet.
Now onto the actual features of the ring itself. The Ring 2’s standout feature is its FDA-cleared AFib detection—AFib is a major risk factor for stroke, and continuous monitoring by a wearable device like the Circular Ring 2 provides a level of vigilance that occasional doctor visits cannot. Building on the Ring Slim’s capabilities, the Ring 2 also includes enhanced ECG capabilities, detailed sleep-stage analysis, and AI-powered insights through its Kira AI.
This new ring continues to track a wide range of metrics from the prior Ring Slim version, such as daily activity, blood oxygen levels (SpO2), energy levels, calories burned, heart rate, respiration rate, sleep quality and disturbances, heart rate variability (HRV), REM cycles, and sleep/wake times. There’s also menstrual cycle tracking, temperature monitoring, and insights related to fertility, menopause, and overall wellness.
The Circular Ring 2 also offers an optional wireless charging case. This allows you to charge your ring on the go, in the same fashion you would charge your wireless earbuds. If you’re running low on battery, you can pop it into the case, wait for it to top up, and put it right back onto your finger.
The AFib detection feature might be a strong selling point for the ring. AFib detection is a feature we’ve typically seen in smartwatches over the past years, but it remains a relatively rare thing on smart rings. FDA clearance means that the feature has been rigorously evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety and effectiveness, which also means that the feature is ready to go right from the moment you take it out of the box. Medical clearance tends to hold back a number of medical-oriented features from smartwatches, smart rings, and fitness devices.
A recent example of this is the Google Pixel Watch 3, which was announced with a loss-of-pulse detection feature that Google wasn’t really able to ship until a few days ago because it lacked FDA clearance. It’s good to see that Circular has its own medical features ready to go right from launch.
The Circular Ring 2 is priced at $549, and the company has now officially opened pre-orders. You can grab it from Kickstarter—early backers can receive discounts of up to $310, which is very significant savings.
