The end of 2023 saw Samsung unveil the newest members of their popular A-series: the A15 5G and the A25 5G. The only problem was the launch got to other markets, but not the US, so interested buyers were out of luck. Fortunately, these popular budget devices have finally made their official debut in the United States, so if you want one of these, you can finally purchase them from Amazon or Samsung’s website.
Samsung Galaxy A15 5G
The Samsung Galaxy A15 is one of the lower entries in the company’s A-series. With a launch price of $199, you don’t get the most cutting-edge features that Samsung offers, but the specs are surprisingly modern despite that.
At its price, you get the expected plastic back and frame and a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset. You get a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display, which nicely enough, has a high refresh rate of 90Hz. In the US, the phone sells in two storage configurations: 8GB/128GB via Samsung, and 4GB/128GB via Amazon. It also comes running Android 14 skinned with One UI 6. All of this hardware is kept running by a 5,000 mAh battery.
On the camera side of things, you get a 13MP selfie shooter and three lenses in the rear setup — a 50MP wide, 5MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro. Telephoto lovers won’t find what they’re looking for here. But then, if you’re still on the lookout for a smartphone with an SD card slot and a headphone jack, this one still carries them with pride.
Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy A14, you get a better display, a better chipset, potentially more RAM, and an ultrawide camera. Plus, charging speeds are now up from 15W to 25W. This device is available in Blue Black and Light Blue.
Samsung Galaxy A25 5G
The Samsung Galaxy A25 5G is a lower-midrange option that’s perfect if you’re ready to spend just a little more and get a few perks in return. It was launched at $299. Compared to the A15, there’s a lot that doesn’t change with the A25. You get Android 14 and One UI 6, a 5000 mAh cell, and 25W charging. You’ll also find an SD card slot and headphone jack.
There’s also a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display — except with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a 1000-nit peak brightness. The camera setup is also similar, with a similar 13MP selfie cam, 2MP macro lens, and 50MP wide (though with OIS and support for recording 4K). The ultrawide gets a bump to 8MP here. Stereo speakers are another perk.
Samsung sticks with an in-house chipset for this, with the Exynos 1280. The company also offers two storage configurations for this phone. You get an 8GB/128GB model if you buy it directly from Samsung, and a 6GB/128GB model via Amazon. The device is only available in the Black Blue colorway.
Compared to the Samsung Galaxy A24, there are a few perks: a higher refresh rate, a slightly improved rear camera setup, and stereo speakers. And considering that the phone was going to get four years of OS updates, we should expect the same for the A25, with the first stop being One UI 6.1 at some point.
Both devices are available for order right away. Which one tickles your fancy more and will you be buying either? Let us know in the comments.
