We’ve been covering leaks on Samsung’s upcoming series of smartwatches, which are pretty hotly anticipated considering they are the first stop for most people looking for an Android-friendly smartwatch option. This year, we’re going to see the seventh generation from the South Korean manufacturer.

Now, we’ve talked a lot about a new top-tier model that has been informally dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra, but it seems that name might be off the mark if a rumor is to be believed. According to TechManiacs.gr, the upcoming smartwatch is expected to be called the Samsung Galaxy Watch X. It is meant to be a direct competitor to Apple’s Watch Ultra, and the X nomenclature might be one way to set them apart from each other.

We know the smartwatch is going to go for a squircle body with a circular screen, which will certainly help it stand out. It is also expected to have water resistance up to 100m, which should make it perfect for divers (and almost no one else). The battery life is also expected to get a boost, which isn’t surprising considering it has a bulkier body. The rumors say about 100 hours of battery life, which is a major leap over last year’s Watch 6 Classic which could only do about 40. The new 3nm Exynos W1000 might be a big part of this.

You May Need To Wait Until Late July Before The Galaxy Watch X Shows Itself

The Samsung Galaxy Watch X sounds very exciting to us and we all can’t wait to see it become official. The normal expectation is that it was going to show up on July 10th, the date of the next Samsung Unpacked event that is expected to show us Samsung’s foldables for the year.

It seems for this high-end watch, that won’t be the case. Sure, the other Samsung Galaxy Watch options for the year will make an appearance on July 10th, but it seems like you’re going to have to wait two weeks extra before the Galaxy Watch X is shown to the world on July 24th.

It’s hard to confirm the veracity of any of these claims, as it is with any major leaks or rumors, but it shouldn’t be long before new leaks come out to potentially back these ones up. Either way, take these claims with a pinch of salt for now, but if they turn out true, the Watch X will be a very different Galaxy Watch.
