Here’s A First Look At One Of Three Upcoming Pixel Models: The Vanilla Pixel 9
Thanks to reliable tipster OnLeaks from X and 91mobile, we’ve just seen the leaks for the Google Pixel 9, the most basic model for the upcoming lineup. However, along with these new renders, it’s been found out that the Pixel 9 will end up being the most basic of three models, and not two as we are used to from Google.
But before we get into that, let’s talk about what we can see from the renders for the Google Pixel 9. The phone refines the design language of the Pixel 8 for a look that’s more in line with what’s trendy right now. You get a flat glass black, a flat display, and a flat metal frame with gentle curves at the corners.
Besides the frame, the most notable change is the revision of the visor design that has made Google smartphones since the Pixel 6 series instantly recognizable. It still retains most of its DNA, but it doesn’t extend edge-to-edge to join the frame on both sides. Instead, it’s a floating elongated oval shape. It still has two cameras and a flash in similar positions though. I’ll chime in and say that I like the new look better.
Mistaken ID: The “Pixel 9 and 9 Pro” Were Actually The Pixel 9 Pro And 9 Pro XL
You might remember that we covered the first renders for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro back in January, at least what we thought were the 9 and 9 Pro. Thanks to OnLeaks, we now know that those phones exist, but they aren’t the 9 and 9 Pro. Instead, they are the 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL!
What this means is that for the first time in Google’s smartphone history, they are about to introduce a third model — a Pro XL option. They both get a third periscope camera and another sensor under the flash. The Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL look pretty similar to each other from the renders provided, and they likely will be for the most part.
However, we can simply guess that the XL model will come with a bigger screen, a bigger battery, and perhaps some other bigger specs (faster charging, maybe?).
