It’s almost eleven months since LG announced that its smart TV’s would gain access to Google’s Stadia but the day has finally come. Those with LG Smart TVs running WebOS 5.0 and 6.0 are now able to install the Stadia app on their televisions and gain access to AAA gaming titles without needing to buy additional hardware.

The best games on Google Stadia [2021]

Those with LG Smart TVs running on WebOS 5.0 or 6.0 in 22 countries can try Google’s Stadia cloud gaming service from today onwards by heading to the LG Content Store on your television and clicking on the applicable banner. It’s likely that if your smart TV was on sale before 2020 that, like my OLED55B7, it will not be able to run the Stadia app.

“The Stadia store features over 200 popular games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil Village, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Hitman 3, Baldur’s Gate 3 as well as access to a growing list of free games and demos, all playable with just a compatible controller, no downloading required. A subscription to Stadia Pro offers a growing library of 30+ games to claim and play, with new titles added every month and exclusive discounts on games and add-on content. And with Stadia’s support for up to 4K HDR graphics and 60 FPS gameplay plus immersive 5.1 surround sound, LG Smart TVs are the perfect choice for those seeking an advanced gaming experience without having to purchase a separate console or expensive gaming PC.”

There’s no need to by additional hardware because Stadia’s Bridge Mode works on eligible smart TVs which means you can use your smartphone as a touchscreen controller.
