Honor Launches Two High-End Smartphones For Their Customers In China
Today is March 18th, and with that, we finally get to see Honor’s Magic 6 Ultimate, a smartphone that we’ve covered a few times based on official teasers from the Chinese company. Along with that, they released the ultra-premium Porsche Design Magic 6 RSR (and the MagicBook Pro 16, but we won’t be talking about that).
Let’s get into how these higher-tiered phones compare to the previous king of the Magic 6 family, the Honor Magic 6 Pro.
The Honor Magic 6 Ultimate
Let’s talk about the Honor Magic 6 Ultimate first, as it is the more affordable option between the two. Honor hasn’t been hiding it, but you get a drastically different design from the Magic 6 phones released prior.
This has a vegan leather back with a large camera module like a rounded rhombus. It has three cameras, and while two remain the same as the other devices, the primary 50MP sensor is an improved module with better dynamic range and LiDAR autofocus instead of laser autofocus.
It comes with generally similar specs as the Magic 6 Pro, though the screen gets Dolby Vision certified and the screen protection is now “King Kong Rhinoceros”. It also only comes with 16GB of RAM, and the 512GB version costs about $970, while the 1TB option shoots up to about $1,100. The phone is available in Black and Purple colorways.
The Porsche Design Magic 6 RSR
The Porsche Design Magic 6 RSR is the new king of Honor’s smartphone lineup. Thanks to a collaboration with Porsche Design, which draws on some Porsche sportscar styling, it has an exciting design. The design on the back of this device is very different, going for a slightly rounded hexagonal camera module on top of a glass back. It also gets the same improved main sensor and faster autofocus.
This phone has a lot more changes, though. The screen is now a dual-layer OLED, which the company claims should enhance the lifespan of the display by 600%, which is amazing. You’ll also get 4320Hz PWM, so the screen will be easier on your eyes. It is also Dolby Vision certified and protected by JuRhino Glass on the front and back.
The phone comes in two colors, Agate Grey and Frozen Berry, which you might recognize from Porsche cars. It has only one configuration, with 1TB of storage and a massive 24GB of RAM. However, if you want it that badly, it will set you back about $1,400. Everything else is the same as the Magic 6 Ultimate.
