The Honor Magic V3 Will Take Design Cues From The Magic 6 Pro

The Honor Magic V3 Switches Up The Camera Module For Something More Eye-Catching

I’m extra excited to see what Honor has cooked up in its labs this year because if I were ever to get a foldable phone, it is likely to be something from Honor. The Honor Magic V3 and Magic Vs3 are both expected to launch in China on July 12th, which is in just a little over a week, and we’re getting more and more insight into the upcoming smartphones as the days roll by.

Today, we’ve been fortunate enough to get a pretty big glimpse at what the new designs of the Magic V3 series are going to look like, thanks to a tipster on Weibo, and I’ll tell you right away that I like them. As much as I like the Honor Magic V2, that rectangular camera module in the corner isn’t as premium as things could be. That’s gone with the upcoming Magic V3. Instead, Honor goes for an octagonal module placed right in the center of the back panel (seen above), and keen eyes might notice that it is very similar to the camera module of the Magic 6 series.

The Honor Magic Vs3 is a little different, as we see its black colorway. The camera module here seems to be perfectly circular, though an inset square with chamfered edges holds the actual lenses, in a similar orientation as the regular Magic V3.

The Magic 6 series’ camera was more of a squircle, but the triangular arrangement of the lenses and the metallic rim in these new foldables certainly bring the Magic 6 phones to mind. We can also see that the back panels will have a vegan leather finish, which certainly adds to the premium feel of the devices.

The Honor Magic V3 Is Somehow Going To Lose Even More Weight

The Honor Magic V2 is 9.9 mm thick when folded, and as a result, it has been the thinnest foldable in the world for a very long time. Some foldables have come close to breaking that record, but none quite yet. It also weighs only 231 grams, which for reference, is lighter than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

However, it seems like the Honor Magic V3 is somehow going to be even thinner and lighter than its predecessor was. I expect the phone to still be in the 9 mm range when folded and it may likely shed up to 10 grams or so. But as long as that pans out, this will show that the foldable segment can get rid of bulk, which is one of the major issues with easily adopting these devices.
