Just a few weeks after launching the Magic V2 which goes on sale in early 2024, Honor is back with another take on the foldable phone. This time it’s the Magic Vs2, a phone that packs in the power you need with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, weighing in at just 229g, with a slim design and a lower price point than it’s more powerful sibling.

Besides being powered by the still-excellent Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, the Magic Vs2 comes with 12/16GB of memory, 256/512GB of built-in storage, and runs Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2 out of the box.
There’s a 16MP camera on the cover display while the rectangular camera housing on the rear includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 20MP telephoto lens with up to 40x zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens.
It’s 5,000mAh battery supports 66W SuperCharge which is markedly speedier than that found on Samsung and Google foldables.
As for the displays, the Magic Vs2’s cover display is an OLED panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 2376 x 1060 resolution, and up to 2,500 nits peak brightness. It’s 7.92-inch internal OLED display features a 2344 x 2156 resolution and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness. As has been the case with previous Honor handsets recently there is support for 3,840Hz PWM Dimming on both displays in order to reduce digital eye strain.
You’ll also find things such as Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6 connectivity, stereo speakers, dual-SIM 5G networking, and an IR blaster present on the Magic Vs2.
“We are excited to introduce the HONOR Magic Vs2. With its extensive range of
groundbreaking features and powerful performance, the HONOR Magic Vs2 is set to spur the
mainstream adoption of foldable phones by providing a more complete price range coverage,
bringing an efficient and convenient foldable experience to more consumers.” said George
Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co. Ltd. “
We should mention that Honor hasn’t revealed if or when the Magic Vs2 will launch outside of its home market, China. But, we hope it does because the Magic Vs2 could be the Galaxy Z Fold Lite that consumers have been waiting so long for. Converting the Chiness price for the 12/256GB base model results in the Magic Vs2 starting at under the $1,000 threshold.
A fold-like foldable at around the $1,000 price point but still packing a premium experience? Yes please.
