Oppo’s A3 Pro Comes With Midrange Specifications And Watertight IP69 Certification
Oppo has released a new device that falls nicely into the midrange class. It comes with specs that are far from shabby but with some very interesting additions to the spec sheet that certainly set it apart from the other smartphones in its class.
The Design
Looking at the Oppo A3 Pro, it’s a pretty regular-looking smartphone. It has a big screen on the front with curved edges at the left and right and slim bezels for the forehead and chin. There’s also a selfie camera cutout as expected.
The phone comes in three colorways: the Azure model comes with a glass back panel, while the blue and pink colorways opt for vegan leather instead. Either way, you get a circular camera module with two lenses and a flash.
This phone looks like the average smartphone, but it has a feature that you only tend to see on much bulkier, “rugged” phones. It has IP69 weather resistance. For context, almost all flagship phones max out at IP68. What this means is that while the phone has the same level of dust resistance, it takes its water resistance a step up, and it’ll be able to handle water jets at high pressure, being cleaned with steam, and being submerged for 30 minutes.
The Screen
The display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 950 nits. It’s nice to see how 120Hz screens are becoming standard, even for midrange smartphones. It’s covered by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. You’ll also find a fingerprint scanner underneath the display.
The Hardware
The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7050, a chip that falls snugly in the midrange. The phone runs on Oppo’s ColorOS 14, which is built on top of Android 14.
The device is available in three storage configurations: 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, and 12GB/512GB. Regardless of the one you get, it’ll come with UFS 3.1 storage. The battery is 5,000 mAh and can be charged at 67W when plugged in. There’s no wireless charging here. There’s also an IR blaster on this phone, which I always love to see.
The Cameras
Despite what the module on the back panel looks like, there are only two cameras on the rear of this phone. The primary one is a 64MP unit with autofocus (but apparently no OIS), paired with a 2MP portrait lens. The selfie snapper is 8MP. In my opinion, the cameras are where this device shows its budget the most.
The Pricing
The Oppo A3 Pro is currently only available in China at the moment, but it starts at about $275 and goes up to $345 for the very top option. IP69 water resistance will be unnecessary for most people, but if you just happen to need that in daily life, this phone will do the job without looking like a brick.
