December saw a Pixel Feature Drop roll out to Pixel handsets which means that the first update of 2021 for Pixel handsets is a regular old security patch. Builds are now rolling out to Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, and Pixel 5 handsets via OTA but if you want to manually flash the update we’ve got the download links for you after the break.
Unusually, even the Verizon variants are getting the January 2021 Security Patch at the same time as the unlocked models, bumping the build numbers to the following:
Global:
- Pixel 3 (XL): RQ1A.210105.003
- Pixel 3a (XL): RQ1A.210105.002
- Pixel 4 (XL): RQ1A.210105.003
- Pixel 4a: RQ1A.210105.002
- Pixel 4a (5G): RQ1A.210105.003
- Pixel 5: RQ1A.210105.003
Verizon:
- Pixel 3 (XL): RQ1D.210105.003
- Pixel 4a (5G): RQ1D.210105.003
- Pixel 5: RQ1D.210105.003
The January Security Patch brings audio, graphic, display, sensor, and telephony improvements and fixes to eligible handsets.
If you just can’t wait for the patch to roll out to your Pixel handset, you can of course download and manually flash the factory image or OTA file via the links below:
Once you’ve downloaded the file, you can flash it to your Pixel handset via the Android Flash Tool which can be found here.
