The latest Kindle Paperwhite is almost back to its Black Friday price

If there’s one piece of tech that I simply can’t live without it’s the Kindle Paperwhite, and Amazon’s e-reader is now going for a bargain price.

Whenever I’m not writing about tech, I love to read. There’s something about a good book that can be relaxing, exhilarating and eye-opening all at the same time, and while it’s always worth picking up physical books where you can and supporting your local bookshops, I still recommend having the Kindle Paperwhite in your collection if you also love literature.

Before I explain why, the key fact to know is that the latest Kindle Paperwhite is now down to a fraction of its original price at just £129.99. That’s just a fiver more than what it went for over Black Friday, but easily the best price I’ve seen it go for this year.

So, back to the device itself, the Kindle Paperwhite really comes into its own if you’re a student who’s reading several books at a time, or your have a trip on the horizon and you don’t want your luggage to be bogged down by paperbacks or hardbacks.

Thanks to the 16GB of internal storage and low file size of e-books, it’s possible to store thousands of books at any given time, so if you do finish your current read then you can jump straight into another bestseller without delay.

The Paperwhite is also particularly handy for night-time reading, or reading in areas where there isn’t a decent light source. The built-in backlight ensures that you never have to squint to read what’s onscreen, and the warm light makes it easy on the eyes when you’re settling into bed.

In fact, the general day-to-day experience is greatly improved on the latest Kindle Paperwhite, with a higher contrast ratio as well as up to 25% faster page turns, making the whole thing feel just as seamless as reading a physical book.

On top of these features, you have the standard fare that originally made e-readers so appealing, such as the ability to change the font across all of your titles, as well as the font size for those who are visually impaired.

As a final point, the Paperwhite can run for up to 12-weeks at a time on a single charge, so you don’t even have to worry about bringing an additional charging cable with you if you are heading abroad for a quick holiday.

At full price, the latest Kindle Paperwhite still ranks as our favourite e-reader yet, but at just £129.99 it’s an essential buy for readers everywhere.
