The new BOOX Note Air3 C E-Ink packs in a color ePaper display and SmartScribe feature

Kindle e-readers are great but if you are looking to add some color to the content you are reading then BOOX’s new Note Air3 C could be just what you need. Packing in a 10.3-inch full-color Kaleido3 display alongside a monochrome panel, the Note Air3 C also features a handwriting layer which enables the SmartScribe function. Unlike Amazon’s offerings though, the BOOX Note Air3 C also features Google Play Services as well as the Play Store which gives access to thousand of apps. For those interested in taking notes by hand, the device has WACOM functionality and comes with the BOOX Pen 2 Plus stylus.

Priced at $499, BOOX’s Note Air3 C is powered by a Qualcomm Octa-core processor with 4GB of memory and 64GB of expandable storage. The 10.3-inch black and white display has 2480 x 1860 resolution and 300ppi while the color panel has a 1240 x 930 resolution with 150ppi and is capable of showing 4,096 colors. There’s dual-band WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, an LED with warm and cold hues to light the display, plus a sensor for auto-rotation. The display also supports taking note by hand with up to 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and provides 16 colors to choose from when editing PDFs or other documents.

A 3,700mAh battery keeps the lights on and you’ll also find a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button for security. Dual speakers are present, as is a microphone, with the Note Air3 C weighing in at 430g and just 5.8mm thick. BOOX has employed Android 12 as the operating system with the Google Play Store pre-installed, offering a somewhat modern interface compared to other e-readers.

Priced at $499, the Note Air3 C is more expensive than its monochrome competitors, but it does offer a color e-ink display with a stylus for note-taking capabilities along with a vast range of apps available via the Play Store.
