If you’re a fan of instant cameras, you’ll love the latest Polaroid Flip. It features an all-new design yet is reminiscent of iconic models like the old Polaroid 600 Close Up. The new Polaroid Flip has a 4-lens camera system for better photos and several upgrades, and it will be available starting April 29th.
Analog photography enthusiasts are likely familiar with Polaroid instant cameras, like the recently released Polaroid Now 3, but the Flip takes things to a new level. The company completely reimagined every aspect of the camera internals, added a neat flippable lid and flash for ultimate protection, and delivered one of its best instant cameras yet.
The new Polaroid Flip instant camera has a 4-lens camera system that delivers crisp, bright, clear photos at four different distances, making it easy to snap pictures while out and about. You’ll also notice a huge improvement in depth-of-field in your prints.
Other Polaroid Flip features include sonar autofocus, an all-new viewfinder, and Polaroid’s most powerful flash yet. You’ll also love its ‘scene analysis’ feature, which warns when photos could be over or underexposed. That way, you’ll get great photos every time without wasting film. It’s compatible with both Polaroid i-Type and 600 film, is USB-C rechargeable, and has a neck strap included in the box. Here are more details regarding what you can expect.
- 4-Lens Camera System: Four distance settings (0.65m, 0.85m, 1.2m, 2.5m) are automatically selected depending on the subject, ensuring sharp and in-focus photos every time.
- Sonar Autofocus: Sonar waves determine the subject’s distance to select the right lens. And since it’s sonar, it works at night and in the dark.
- Polaroid’s Most Powerful Flash: Located in the Flip’s lid, an all-new adaptive flash changes brightness and adapts to the scene based on light, distance, and more. It can illuminate subjects up to 4.5m (14.7ft) away.
- Scene Analysis Mode: Photographers will receive a scene analysis alert in the viewfinder before snapping photos if the scene is over or underexposed. Additionally, the analysis can detect if a subject is too close for a clear photo.
Packed with iconic innovations from Polaroid’s 80-year photography legacy, all in one easy-to-use, point-and-shoot instant camera. Polaroid Flip is more than just a camera—it’s an invitation to embrace real-life moments. In this hyper-digitized, constantly doom-scrolling, high-anxiety age, the Polaroid Flip offers a way to connect with life’s best moments.
Other specs include newly optimized manual controls on your phone using the Polaroid app via Bluetooth, double exposure, self-timers, and more. It’s an all-new camera designed to enhance real life without putting it on social media.
Naturally, all of these fancy new features mean the Polaroid Flip is a bit more expensive than its other offerings. The new Polaroid Flip will retail for $199 (€219) and be available for early access members on April 15th. However, in terms of general availability, the Flip will be available on the Polaroid website starting April 29th and at select retailers from May 13th.
If you’ve been waiting for a better instant camera but don’t want to spend over $600 on the Polaroid I-2, the new Flip is a perfect compromise. There are also some other instant cameras worth considering, if you’re not happy with those options.
