The Next Generation of Motorola Razr Foldables Has a Launch Date

I know that what I’m about to say might make a lot of people angry, but I truly think that Motorola makes better clamshell foldables than Samsung does, despite the latter being the poster child for the device segment. Recent Razr devices have been apologetically excellent, yet they don’t take most of the spotlight.

This year, I hope that will change. Motorola’s new Razr devices are very close, and the brand has made the launch date official. The phones will launch exactly two weeks from now, bringing some serious upgrades. I hope this will be the year when people will really take note of what the mobile phone veteran is bringing to the table.

The 2025 Motorola Razr Lineup Is Being Announced on April 24th

There was no reason to think that we weren’t getting a new Motorola Razr phone this year. Motorola isn’t the kind of company to take a break from the race (that’s a shot at OnePlus, if you don’t know). The only thing is, there was no reason to think that we’d be getting those clamshell foldables this early into the year. The Motorola Razr (2024) series launched in June, so it was normal to expect them at the year’s halfway point.

Well, the halfway point seems too late for Motorola, and it is ready to release the new Razr devices to the world this month. On its official X page, it released a teaser video to let us all know that the date is April 24th, which is exactly two weeks from today, so we don’t have too long to wait until we see what the Lenovo-owned brand has in store for us.

I don’t think I’d ever buy a clamshell foldable for myself, but I respect them a lot and I really want to see this year’s Razr models (which should go by the Razr 60 series in certain regions) do well.

The Razr Phones Are Expected to Bring Some Upgrades This Year

I don’t think Motorola is a fan of incremental upgrades. It maxes out the specifications as soon as it can, and that’s one of the reasons why I prefer its foldable offerings to a behemoth like Samsung.

There have been whispers that the big model, the Razr+ (2025), will be upgrading to 68W fast charging. Considering that’s a number you’ll commonly see on other Motorola devices (even those that are much cheaper), I’d be surprised not to see 45W charging take a step up. Plus, we also know that both the Razr (2025) and the Razr+ (2025) are expected to upgrade to 4,500mAh batteries.

And in case you didn’t catch it, it looks like Motorola plans to do something absolutely bonkers in terms of the storage configurations. It has come from more than one source at this point, but the Razr+ (2025) could potentially be available in an 18GB/2TB model. That is so rarely seen that I’m going to have to be a bit of a skeptic and wait until I hear the announcement before I believe that, especially as it might be China-exclusive.
