The OnePlus Nord 2 is official with 65W fast-charging, and MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 processor from £399

    OnePlus Nord 2

Almost exactly a year after the first Nord handset made its debut, OnePlus has taken the wraps off of its successor, the Nord 2. Where the original Nord was powered by the very popular Snapdragon 765G processor the Nord 2 makes use of MediaTek’s new Dimensity 1200 flagship chipset. Other notable differences include a bump to 65W fast-charging as well as the presence of the same 50MP camera sensor as seen on the OnePlus 9 series, which promises a step up in image quality.

The Nord 2 is the first phone to launch running on the recently merged codebase of OxygenOS and OPPO’s ColorOS software with build number 11.1.3 which is based on Android 11. OnePlus says that the Nord 2 will receive 2 years of Android OS updates and 3 years of security updates, along with an unlockable bootloader if that’s your cup of tea. The construction of the Nord 2 includes front and back glass panels with a polycarbonate frame sandwiched in between.

The display is minutely smaller at 6.43-inches instead of the original Nord’s 6.44-inch panel, it remains an AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Besides being powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200, the Nord 2 can be had in 6/8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage options, we can confirm that MicroSD cards aren’t supported in case you were wondering. The battery gets a bump in capacity from 4,115mAh to 4.500Mah (2 x 2,250Mah units) along with Warp Charge 65 which means a sub-35-minute or less charging time from 0-100%. Wireless charging isn’t present and neither will you find an audio jack or an official IP rating for the Nord 2, dual 5G SIM slots are included though.

Impressively, the Nord 2 sports the same 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor as sported by the OnePlus 9 series, albeit as the main camera and not in ultra-wide lens guise with the freeform lens, although it does have OIS. Accompanying it are the usual suspects in the form of an 8MP ultra-wide lens with EIS and a 2MP monochrome lens. The front selfie camera is a singular affair consisting of a 32MP sensor with EIS that is housed in the punch-hole on the top-left corner of the display.

On to pricing and availability and the Nord 2 is already available to pre-order on the OnePlus Store as well as Amazon, with orders shipping from July 26 before the phone goes on general sale on July 28th. Available in Europe and the UK, the Nord 2 is priced as follows:
