The Pixel 8a is still far out from launch, but as is basically tradition at this point, we’ve been able to furnish ourselves with an idea of what the device will be like, based on leaks and rumors. The latest one is courtesy of WinFuture. While the Pixel 8a will be cheaper than the Pixel 8, as expected, it’s going to launch at a higher price than the Pixel 7a did.

Yep, that’s right. The cheap option in the Pixel lineup is getting more expensive, and not by a marginal amount. The Pixel 7a launched at €499/$499 and brought a bump over the Pixel 6a pricing, and the price rise continues with the Pixel 8a seeming set to launch around €569(~$620). However, since Google matched the pricing for Europe and the United States last year, the Google Pixel 8a may launch in the US at an easier-to-swallow $569.

The Pixel 8 lineup did add $100 to their launch price for both models when compared to the Pixel 7 lineup, so it isn’t illogical that the 8a would need to cut a lot more corners to stay at the same price as the Pixel 7a. Regardless, it still does a little to defeat the purpose of an affordable option.

What Do We Know About The Pixel 8a Specs?

The Pixel 8a will come with some perks over the previous “a” device. It’ll come with two storage options: one with 128GB and a new model with 256GB (the previous “a” phones only came with a single storage option, and never above 128GB). Pixel phones aren’t known for expandable storage, so don’t expect that. Both phones will have 8GB of RAM and be powered by the Google Tensor G3. The display is expected to be unchanged at 6.1 inches.

In the design department, it looks set to round off the corners of the body and screen more than its predecessor. It will also maintain the visor design, with two cameras and a flash plugged into it. It also looks like the phone will come in four colorways (though some may be exclusive to each storage configuration), and they are Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Mint.

The Pixel 7a and the Pixel 6a were both announced in May, so we’re expecting a similar timeline for the release of the Pixel 8a. Even with the higher price point, are you going to be considering this device? Let us know down below.
