The S25 Edge’s Exact Dimensions Have Surfaced; Light and Thin

For some reason, Samsung had the genius idea of introducing a fourth model in its flagship S lineup for 2025—the Galaxy S25 Edge. The whole selling point of the device is that it is incredibly thin, at the detriment of a solid spec sheet. I don’t know who asked for that, but it seems Apple will do it too later this year, so there must be some demand.

If you’re going to be in line for the Galaxy S25 Edge (which is launching much later than the rest of the family), then its thickness and its weight should mean a lot to you—arguably more than the compromised spec sheet. Thanks to some of the best tipsters in the game, we have gotten a glimpse into those figures well ahead of time.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Is Going to Be a Lot Thinner Than Earlier Reported

Flagship phones thinner than 7mm are extinct animals—you’ll never find one these days, but several years ago, they weren’t as rare as you might think. The last time that Samsung released a flagship that was under 7mm was back in 2015, when the Galaxy S6 was released. That phone measured in at 6.9mm.

Why am I using 6.9mm though? That’s because the first rumor regarding the thinness of the S25 Edge claimed that it was going to be “6.x” mm thin, and the thickest possible number in that regard was 6.9mm. However, that rumor got refined as time went on, and eventually, we learned that it was expected to be 6.4mm thin. We’ve seen flagships that thin before (the Huawei P8 was likely the most recent one), but that was a decade ago.

6.4mm would have been thin enough for a modern phone to use it as a selling point. However, what we’re learning now is that even that was not entirely accurate. According to Ice Universe on Weibo, the S25 Edge is expected to have dimensions of 158.2 x 75.5 x 5.84 mm. That means a thickness of approximately 5.8mm. That is absolutely crazy, and if considering appearance alone, the device is bound to be a looker based on that.

Samsung Has to Compromise to Achieve That Degree of Thinness

Considering that the average flagship smartphone these days is within the 7mm range, a phone in the 5mm range is absolutely crazy. Unsurprisingly, getting a phone down that thin means that some specifications need to be compromised on, especially those that benefit from more physical space inside the device.

First on that list is the battery. The Galaxy S25 has a 4,000mAh battery and the S25 Edge, despite being much thinner, will only undercut that to 3,900mAh (according to Ice Universe). However, generally speaking, those two capacities are way too small for smartphones released in 2025. Comparatively though, I can’t blame the Edge model too much.

At the same time, we all know that the S25 Edge will only have two cameras—a 200MP primary and a 12MP ultrawide. Size constraints mean that a telephoto simply isn’t practical.

The S25 Edge Will Be The Lightest Flagship That Samsung Has Released in a While

Thanks to Ice Universe, once again, we also know that the Galaxy S25 Edge will weigh in lighter than the base S25. However, the exact numbers aren’t known.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 weighs 162 grams, so that means the S25 Edge could be as close as 161 grams for the tipster’s statement to still remain true. However, I think we can extend things a bit and presume that the Edge will be sub-160 grams.

That’s not too crazy though. A device as modern as the Sony Xperia 10 V only weighed in at 159 grams. However, being both thin and light should work in the S25’s Edge favor.
