The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Will Be Tougher Than Ever Before

The S24 Ultra is arguably one of the best Ultra devices that Samsung has released in a long time. It brought Galaxy AI to the world, switched over to a titanium frame, and opted for a flat display for the first time in Samsung’s S Ultra’s history. It also introduced a new and exclusive feature: Corning’s anti-reflective Gorilla Armor.

Leaks regarding the Galaxy S25 Ultra haven’t been too exciting, as it doesn’t seem poised to do anything drastically different from its predecessor. However, we do know that while the screen remains the same on paper, it’ll be bringing new protection for the display, in the form of Gorilla Armor 2.

The S25 Ultra Will Bring Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2; Could Be Exclusive Again

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra launched with Gorilla Armor and it happened to be the only smartphone launched in the entire year to come with that anti-reflective glass, as excellent as it was universally deemed to be. Perhaps Samsung has an exclusivity agreement, though that’s a debate for another day.

Now, according to Ice Universe on X, we know that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will also be coming with Gorilla Armor, though this time around, it’ll be the second generation of Corning’s glass coming to play.

We can expect improved durability, as always. However, it isn’t certain whether it is going to come with improved anti-reflective properties. To be fair, compared to the competition, the first generation of Gorilla Armor is anti-reflective enough, especially compared to the competition. But if Samsung and Corning can somehow improve on that, that’s going to be another winner for the South Korean OEM in the display department.

Expect An Improvement To The Peak Brightness Too

Samsung’s flagships are widely considered to have the best displays in the Android space, year after year. They don’t seem to take that lightly, as every year, they find some way to improve the display that you’re getting. The same seems set to apply for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as it looks like it’ll be getting a boost to its peak brightness.

While the S24 Ultra is able to push out an astounding 2,600 nits, the S25 Ultra will likely push that up to 3,000 nits. This comes from Android Authority, after a teardown of some leaked software files from an in-testing S25 Ultra. Paired with the anti-reflective display, there should be zero issues with readability when using the device in bright sunlight.

The S25 Ultra Likely Won’t Be A Bad Phone, But It Will Have A Lot Of Competition

I’ve sent a lot of criticism the way of the Galaxy S25 Ultra because it simply isn’t going to be a substantial enough upgrade over the S24 Ultra, at least on the spec sheet. That doesn’t mean it’ll be a bad phone though, especially as every year doesn’t have to be a monumental upgrade.

I think the real problem is that the competition is getting stronger and stronger. The Vivo X200 Pro might be my favorite phone of the year, with a nice design, a massive battery and fast charging, and a killer set of cameras. Oppo, OnePlus, and even Realme launched some very solid devices this year and it’s just going to make Samsung’s work harder—especially as they might not follow the current battery and charging trends.
