The Oculus Quest 2 is back with a newly improved design and is available to buy following a voluntary recall issued by Facebook earlier this summer. Better yet, the new model comes with a silicone face pad and an upgrade to 128GB of storage for the same price as the original.
Following widespread reports that the removable foam facial insert caused skin irritation, Oculus voluntarily paused sales back in July. However, during the announcement, the company confirmed the new model would increase from 64GB of internal storage to 128GB, which is a welcomed addition.
In total, the CPSC says it received nearly 5,716 reports of skin irritation and “approximately 45 reports of consumers that required medical attention” due to that foam. Now, the new model comes with a silicone facial insert in the box.
Starting today, the newly improved Oculus Quest 2 VR headset is available for the same $299 price tag as the old 64GB model. Facebook says this new version will let players easily store and access more games and apps on a single headset.
Those who already own the Quest 2 can go to the Oculus “My Devices” section detailed here and request a free silicone cover which should begin shipping in about four weeks. For everyone else, the Oculus Quest 2 is back and better than ever, has double the storage, yet retails for the same price as before. So, buy one today from the link below.
