The Value-Focused Poco X7 and X7 Pro Arrive with Dimensity Power

Xiaomi launched its Poco subbrand several years ago. I remember thinking of its very first device being the flagship killer to kill even other flagship killers, with such a major focus on bringing high-end specs to users at a price point that was insanely competitive. That DNA is still present, with the most recent Poco devices still starting in the $300 range.

Today, Poco has just unveiled its X7 and X7 Pro devices, and they follow the usual Poco formula. You get very respectable performance, an eye-catching build, and just all-around solid specifications. We’re expecting a solid price to follow that too. Let’s talk about these new devices.

Poco Unveils The X7, a Solid Midranger; and the Poco X7 Pro with Flagship Specs

Poco, a sub-brand established by a company that was already well-known for affordability, was founded as a way to bring high-end specs to customers at a price point that is intensely competitive. It’s been a while, but Poco is still going strong. Today, the company has unveiled its midrange Poco X7 and its X7 Pro, which delivers flagship power.

The Poco X7 Doesn’t Compromise on Its Camera and Its Display

If you look at the spec sheet for the Poco X7, it is hard to deem it a flagship phone. Instead, the X7 works a lot better as a midrange device, and in that market segment, it certainly finds more level competiton.

The Design

The X7 isn’t a bad-looking device, and I actually prefer its black and yellow colorway to the equivalent option for the Pro model. It is also available in green and silver options. The device has a curved glass back panel, though the black colorway gets vegan leather. A large rounded square makes up the camera module in the center of the upper third of the phone.

This might be the cheaper device, but it doesn’t compromise on the water resistance spec, bringing IP68 certification.

The Screen

The Poco X7’s display is nearly identical to that of the X7 Pro. It’s a 6.67-inch AMOLED unit with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It also comes with Wet Touch tech, which should make it incredibly easy to operate your phone, even if the screen has water droplets on it—something that a lot of modern smartphones still struggle with.

The screen is also protected by the new Gorilla Glass 7i, a technology that was just debuted by the OnePlus 13R a few days ago. Poco says that it gets two times the scratch and drop resistance of Gorilla Glass 5.

The Internal Hardware

Hardware is what makes or breaks the value of a Poco device, and in the case of the Poco X7, as long as you’re not expecting to get some kind of killer flagship device, then you’re going to be more than happy with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra that it comes with. The device is available in two storage configurations: 8/256GB and 12/512GB.

The Battery and Charging

When it comes to keeping your phone powered up, the Poco X7 is notably not as impressive as its Pro counterpart. However, bigger companies get away with worse than its 5,110mAh cell and 45W fast charging, so it’s hard to hate too much.

The Cameras

The Poco X7 series uses one primary camera: a 50MP Sony IMX882 with OIS. However, in the case of the Poco X7, the secondary camera is an 8MP ultrawide, and then things are rounded off with a 2MP macro. The 20MP selfie camera is the same as you’d get on the Pro phone, so you’re not compromising on that at the very least.

Thanks to the capable primary camera, the Poco X7 is able to record 4K video at 30 frames per second, utilizing both OIS and EIS to keep things stable.

Now, for people like me who appreciate every drop of power that they can pull from their devices, and who don’t mind paying appropriately for that, the Poco X7 Pro should definitely be more your speed. It comes with a more subtle design and substantially improved specs in every category.

The Design

While I like the black and yellow colorway of the regular X7 better, don’t think that means that I like its entire design better, because that’s not the case. The X7 Pro goes for a flatter design—from the back panel to the frame to the display. That’s generally my preference. In this case, the camera module is more understated, as just a vertically oriented dual-camera layout in the upper-left corner.

All of its colorways—Black, Green, and Yellow—come with a dual-tone finish and the Black option certainly comes with the most eye-catching of the bunch. The device comes with IP68 water resistance.

The Screen

You get what is mostly the same viewing experience, regardless of the device in the series that you settle with. The X7 Pro also has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1.5K resolution. However, it pushes the peak brightness up just a little, with that number being 3,200 nits. It also comes with the new Gorilla Glass 7i to mitigate the risk of any unfortunate mishaps.

MediaTek’s new Dimensity 8400-Ultra is officially classified as a midrange chip, but what makes it particularly special is that it is the first midrange chip to utilize an all big core design. In a way, you can think of that as prioritizing power over efficiency—though it shouldn’t mean it’ll be a power hog.

The device will be available in three storage configurations: the base 8/256GB option, a 12/256GB variant, and the top-of-the-line 12/512GB choice.

The Battery and Charging

In 2025, the Poco X7’s battery specs might seem a tad outdated, but the X7 Pro does sure to remedy that situation. You get a 6,000mAh battery, which is the largest that has ever been in a Poco device. Plus, you’ll be able to charge that from 0 to 100% in just 42 minutes, thanks to 90W wired fast charging.

The Cameras

With the Poco X7 Pro, you get a 50MP Sony IMX882 taking your shots for you, and Poco says that it is paired with “flagship-grade” OIS to save you from having to contend with blurry shots. Thanks to a better chip, the X7 Pro is able to record at 4K/60. You also get an 8MP ultrawide, but Realme drops the macro on this one. You get a 20MP selfie camera on the front, just like with the Poco X7.

What Is the Pricing and Availability of the Poco X7 Series?

The Poco X7 and X7 Pro are available globally, withh the Poco X7 starting at an incredibly low $229 for the 8/256GB version. With the X7 Pro, it starts at $279 for the same variant, and maxes out at $339 for the 12/512GB version. Nice to see the DNA is still present.
