There’s Something Off-Kilter About the Galaxy S25 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has the potential to be the most unnecessary flagship smartphone released in a long time. I’m ready to be proven wrong after its launch, though. However, it is hard to see what value is brought to the table with a phone whose main selling point is its thinness—no one was complaining about that.

Either way, Samsung is going to release the phone, so I’m looking forward to seeing what it might do differently from the rest of the S25 family. Before that, though, a YouTuber was able to get their hands on a dummy unit, and it reveals one thing that we did not know about the phone’s design.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge doesn’t have a confirmed launch date, but it is expected to be made official next month. There’s almost nothing that has been made official about the phone beyond its name and its existence, but rumors have filled in a lot of the gaps for us. Samsung also showed it off on the floor at Samsung Unpacked at the start of the year, but it never released any press images of the device—that was left to the press.

Ever since then, this might be our best look at the S25 Edge, thanks to a YouTuber known as TheSinza. The South Korean YouTuber somehow got his hands on a dummy unit of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is filling in a lot of the gaps that existed regarding the device’s aesthetic. We knew what the camera layout was going to look like, and the front side will be no different than usual. The bottom edge is where things are surprising.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is going to have its SIM card tray, USB-C port, and speaker grille on the bottom of the phone, just like other Samsung flagships. However, just by looking at it, you’ll probably see that something looks off. Yeah, off-center. The USB-C port, along with the SIM tray and speaker, isn’t centered. Instead, they’re placed closer to the back panel. This is definitely a product of the device’s slimness.

This Hands-On Video Also Confirms the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge’s Thickness

The Galaxy S25 Edge’s entire selling point, compared to the Galaxy S25+, is that it is thinner. According to rumors, the spec sheet won’t have any particular advantages beyond that. For that reason, the exact thickness of the phone is certainly one of the things we can’t wait to have confirmed.

We’ve heard that the device will be 5.84mm thick, but that is based entirely on rumors. Even though this isn’t quite an official source, The Sinza was able to use callipers on the device to further bolster that claim of a 5.8mm thickness. That will make the Galaxy S25 Edge the thinnest flagship that we’ve seen in an extremely long time.
